When our first child was born, one of the many projects I set to was getting the back yard fenced. I wanted our children to have a safe place to play when they got old enough to walk and go out. A fence kept the children from wandering off into danger and was a deterrent to intruders (to an extent). A fence, or a border, represents a boundary, whether it be a fence around the backyard, the border of a country, or a wall around a prison yard. Rules and Laws represent boundaries on human behavior. A country with no rules or boundaries is anarchy. In other words, chaos. As much as the idea of anarchy has been popularized, no one honestly wants to live that way. We have a twisted way of thinking about what this means. We all might want the freedom to do whatever we choose to do, but we do not want others to have that same freedom. You might want the freedom to disregard the laws that you do not care to adhere to, but you certainly do not want another person having the freedom to break into your house and steal whatever they want when you are not home. You might want the freedom to disregard the law regarding the illegality of marijuana use and possession in your state, but you do not want another man to have the freedom to disregard the law regarding driving an automobile in an intoxicated state and possibly causing an accident that could seriously injure or kill either you or one of your loved ones. So, we tend to operate under a very self-serving and inconsistent methodology regarding the keeping of rules and laws.
Make no mistake. We are under attack. The Scripture says, “The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I (Jesus) have come that they may have life and have it to the full.” (John 10:10) “Be alert and of sober mind. Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour.” (1 Peter 5:8) “You belong to your father, the devil, and you want to carry out your father’s desires. He was a murderer from the beginning, not holding to the truth, for there is no truth in him. When he lies, he speaks his native language, for he is a liar, and the father of lies.” (John 8:44) The tearing down of boundaries, morally, ideologically, politically, and physically brings chaos and destruction. The controversies in the current political climate of the USA, and all over the world are, at their core, a battle between good and evil that has played out since the beginning of time.
“For God is not a God of disorder (confusion, chaos), but of peace- as in all the congregations of the Lord’s people.” (1 Corinthians 14:33). God creates order. Satan, the god of this age, (2 Corinthians 4:4) creates chaos, disorder and destruction. Satan entices his followers to join him in this destruction by tearing down boundaries.
Thinking about this compelled me to consider some of the things that are currently affecting our society in a negative way. It seems that we live in a culture that is increasingly opposed to boundaries in every area of life. The ironic part of this is that this ideology is promoted by what, in our vernacular, we refer to as the “Progressives”. The “Progressives” are not really progressive at all, in the true sense of the word progress. Just because an idea is new, or current, does not mean that the idea
promotes progress. Any idea that promotes chaos is not progress. That should be obvious to any thinking person.

Simply stated, progress means making things better. It would be more accurate to refer to the “progressives” as “regressives”. Many of the ideas of the so-called “Progressives” are simply pandering to the lunatic fringe, or a re-hashing of Socialist ideas, that, to the student of history (as opposed to the student of ideology), can be plainly seen that the ideas of Socialism fail. Some things found good in theory, but do not play out well in reality. News flash: We live in reality, not fantasy. Fantasy merely entertains the mind. It does not change the external world. Hypothetical, theoretical and speculative life is much easier than real life! Let me explain why Socialism appeals to many, and why it does not work.
Socialism sounds compassionate, on the surface. One of the ideals promoted by Socialist politicians is “universal health care”. What right thinking person would deny that it would be fantastic if every citizen of a country could get the healthcare they needed, when they needed it? This would include the rich and the poor alike. A person’s inability to pay for good insurance would not prevent them from getting the care they needed. That is the theory. As I stated previously, the theoretical often does not play out in reality. Health care is primarily a business. Like every other business, it stands or falls depending on its ability to produce a profit for the owner(s). Doctors, nurses, and other healthcare professionals are paid for their service. Medicine, and medical supplies cost money. The building and maintenance of health care facilities costs money. Money must come from somewhere. In a country that does not have universal health care, the money comes from individuals, and their insurance companies paying for medical care. Under universal healthcare, the government would pay for the medical expenses. The government gets its money by taxing its citizens. So, either way you still pay. You pay for universal healthcare by paying much higher taxes. It is all just a numbers shell game. The bottom line is that somebody pays for everything. There is no such thing as “free” anything. Increasing taxes and/or simply increasing the national debt is the only way the government pays for anything. There are no other options. I recently did a numbers experiment. I looked up the current national debt. I looked up the current population of the United States of America. If we were to pay off the current national debt by simply dividing up the total where every citizen pays the same amount, each citizen would be required to pay in excess of 75 million dollars apiece.
Socialized medicine, or universal healthcare, whichever term you choose to use, (they both mean the same thing), would be impossible to pay for. The theory sounds good, unfortunately, it is not based on reality. The Socialist politicians try to skirt the
above mentioned numbers by simply saying they will make rich people pay for most of it. Even if that were so, if you made every billionaire in the USA pay for all of it, there would still not be enough money. It is a stupid idea that will not work because it is not based on reality. Socialist ideas seek to tear down the walls that define reality.
Socialism appeals to young people because they do not know history, and because they are scared for their future. They like the idea of the government paying for things that, to them, based on their income and indebtedness, seem impossible to achieve. A cursory study of world history will prove that every single time a country turns to a socialism, it always eventually fails, and the people are worse off. Things start out seeming good for a little while, then it eventually evolves into a system where you have a rich elitist class of people hoarding the money and living well, and the rest of the people are poor. It is worse than forced slavery. Living in a free country, as our founding fathers envisioned for the USA, is based on the premise that the individual members of that society take responsibility for their own actions and behavior. In a word, self-governance. This is the antidote to totalitarianism, or the “Nanny” state of socialism. It keeps government more at the local level, which is what our founding fathers envisioned, and avoids the bureaucratic oversight of the federal government in the minute details of our lives as free citizens. Self-governance is based on a theistic understanding of reality, not atheism, or the denial of a supreme being who stands as our ultimate judge. Despite how revisionist historians, (who are not really historians at all) have worked diligently to remove that aspect of our heritage from the way history is currently presented to young people, the fact is that this country was based on a Christian understanding of reality. That is what governed the founding principles upon which our constitution was based. It might be rightly argued that not all of them were Christian, but those who were not Christian, were at least deists. They had a theistic interpretation of reality, not atheistic, as is the case in much of today’s social discourse and interpretation of the world.
Without a belief in a supreme being, there is no reason for morality to exist. Morality cannot be divorced from the understanding that we are ultimately accountable to the One who created us, and before whom we will stand to be judged or acquitted. Any version of morality that is not based on immutable, divine law is purely subjective and may be changed at the whim of man to suit his purposes at any given point in time. That is why, in our current society, we see the deconstruction of the boundaries that have kept our society safe and functioning. Because of the onslaught of the prevalence of atheistic ideas in all areas of life, government, education, business, etc., boundaries in morality, sexuality, and our approach to the management of nature are being torn down, to our detriment.
One of the controversies that has gotten a lot of media attention since 2016, when Donald J. Trump became the 45th president of the United States is the border between the United States and Mexico. Many democratic politicians, including former presidents, espoused the idea of a border wall to keep illegal immigrants from crossing the border from Mexico into the United States, but never did anything to make it happen. As soon as Donald Trump became president, and actually started a process to
get the border wall built, suddenly these same people became opposed to the wall. In addition to that, the media now often refers to illegal immigrants as simply immigrants. This is an intentional misrepresentation of the facts. Donald Trump, or any other right-minded United States citizen is not opposed to immigrants entering the United States, as long as they go through the proper, legal channels to do so. The ones that do it illegally are the problem. No one from any other country is allowed to enter the country illegally. Why should it be any different with people crossing the southern border from Mexico? No one from Russia, or China, or any other country can just board a plane, with no valid passport of visa, and fly to the United States, and just get off the plane and enter our country at will. This is just another example of how people bent on destroying our country are trying to tear down legitimate boundaries.
Another boundary that is being torn down torn down in an insidious, militant, and organized manner is the boundary between genders. Up until about 20 years ago, give or take, no one ever heard of what we now refer to as transgender, or gender fluid, or any such thing. Homosexuals have always existed, but it was plainly understood what was meant by that term: persons who are sexually attracted to the same gender. It has always been understood that this is against the natural order. (Romans 1:24-27). Anyone who claims to believe and follow the Scripture cannot condone homosexual behavior without completely disregarding this passage from Romans. God created males to be attracted to and mate with females, and females to be attracted to and mate with males. Same gender attraction and sexual involvement is an aberration that we are now being told is normal and desirable. To make matters worse, the idea that some people don’t even know what gender they are, or that their gender can change based on a person’s will or “self-identity”, is now being promoted with militant vigor. The church of Jesus Christ must stand against the idea that somehow now, in our so called “enlightened” age, that sexual perversion of this nature is now acceptable. Many churches and denominations have completely abandoned the Word of God in their stance on this issue by giving in to the current social pressure, ordaining practicing homosexuals, transsexuals, and performing same sex marriages.
The universal church of Jesus Christ, (which is the real church, not how churches are defined in denominational hierarchy) must stand for the unchangeable Word of God, and not give into social pressure to change according to social standards and norms of any given generation. The church must stand as the beacon of truth in a crooked and perverse generation. We must stand against normalizing perverse behavior.
The church must not give in to social pressure to vote in a socialist agenda to conform this country to a socialist nation, which will ultimately enslave its inhabitants, as an elitist ruling class hordes the wealth, and turns the working class people into slaves to the state. Totalitarianism ALWAYS eventually leads to nations murdering their own citizens who they classify as dissidents anyone who questions the state’s authority. Accurate world history proves that there have been more people murdered by their own governments than by any other means, including war and intentional genocide.
The church must stand against abortion. We must stand against the agenda of “Planned Parenthood” to normalize the killing of innocent babies for any and every reason. Abortion is a billion-dollar industry that is a stench of the nostrils of a holy God, who created human life to reflect His glory. For an organization that seeks to prevent parenthood by the means of killing babies to be called “Planned Parenthood” is a huge oxymoron. “Parenthood Prevention” would be a more accurate name. Satan, the father
of lies, is in the business of twisting words so that what is evil is called good, and what is good is called evil.
The church of Jesus Christ must rise in this generation to become the true “Progressives”, those leading mankind to a brighter future, as the will of God is done on the earth, as it is in heaven. The trajectory of what is currently defined as “progressive” only progresses mankind to destruction, chaos, confusion, death and hell.
Boundaries matter! Let’s build walls of prayer, witness to the truth, and love to a lost world, even if it costs our very lives. What good is it for a man if he gains the whole world, yet lose his soul?
